Not everyone thinks recycling and garbage collection is exciting...
...but we do! As of February 9, 2010 all of us at Recology of the Coast are genuinely
excited to join the community of Pacifica as your new collector of, recyclables, organic
materials, and garbage. And we think you'll be excited to learn about the new and
enhanced services we will be offering. No immediate changes will take place to the
collection methods, however by the end of August 2010 we will be implementing the
programs described below.
No more sorting!
Soon, you can forget about having to sort your recyclables into different containers. We will provide one large wheeled cart where you can place all your recyclable materials. Paper, glass, cans, plastic, cardboard, you name it - they will all go in just one cart! We call this "single-stream" recycling. It makes your life easier, and is proven to divert more waste from landfill. That's something we can all get excited about!
Go organic
We will also make it much easier to recycle organic materials like yard waste and food scraps. Recology of the Coast will provide a separate wheeled cart for these products, which will be composted naturally. This helps us get even closer to our ultimate goal: "WASTE ZERO."
Garbage
Our goal is to help you reduce your garbage to a minimum. Recology will provide you with a wheeled cart similar to your cart for recycling and organics. This cart will provide you a convenient, efficient method for the disposal of your garbage.
Recycle Yard
We will continue to operate the Recycle Yard at 1046 Palmetto Avenue (8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Saturday) for your recycling convenience.
A proven record of reliable service
Recology of the Coast is a subsidiary of Recology (formerly Norcal Waste Systems, Inc.), with a 90-year history of providing solid waste services. Recology already provides similar services to more than 600,000 households and 60,000 businesses in 60 communities throughout Northern California, Nevada, and Oregon. We are delighted to extend our high quality, professional collection programs to residents and businesses of Pacifica.

A smooth transition
During the next six months, Recology of the Coast will gradually replace the older manual collection vehicles with state-of-the-art vehicles that are fully or semi-automated. All residents will be provided with easy-to-move wheeled carts with attached lids for recycling, organics and garbage.
We will soon offer convenient online billing and payment options. We're sure you'll find it easier than ever before to reduce your waste and improve the environment.
Please be aware your next bill will be from Recology of the Coast. If your usual payment method is done utilizing on-line banking, please update your payment profile to reflect the name change to Recology of the Coast. You will be receiving more specific information about the exciting new collection programs and bill paying options.
